A Walnut Like No Other: Every once in a while, a material comes along that makes us stop and rethink what we’re building. This is one of those times. Walnut is typically a rich, medium brown, with the usual variations from board to board and shipment to shipment. But this particular walnut is different. Exceptionally rich, warm, and almost red in tone, it’s a color we’ve only recently come across, and only in a handful of shipments. We don’t expect to see it again anytime soon, if ever.
Rather than use this rare walnut for individual custom orders, we decided to give it a collection of its own. The result is a cohesive series of pieces designed to let the character and color of the wood take center stage.
At the heart of the collection is this dining table and matching bench. The table features softly rounded corners, a beveled edge, and a satin black powder-coated steel base. Finished in Osmo Polyx hardwax oil, the walnut retains its depth and natural character while offering a durable, beautiful finish.
