‘SAKAMOTO’ COLLECTION

Our Sakamoto collection embodies a refined sense of minimalism and clarity of design. Originally developed during the early years of our company, this collection was created with the intention of offering a timeless table design that could seamlessly integrate into virtually any environment. Defined by its clean lines, solid wood top, and inset trapezoidal leg structure, the Sakamoto strikes a careful balance between understated simplicity and architectural presence. Its restrained form allows the natural materials and craftsmanship to take center stage, making it equally at home in modern, rustic, contemporary, industrial, or transitional interiors.

One of the defining strengths of the Sakamoto collection is its versatility. Designed to adapt effortlessly across residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces, the collection has become especially well suited for restaurant environments where durability, efficient use of space, and timeless aesthetics are essential. Its clean silhouette allows it to complement a wide range of interior concepts while maintaining a warm and approachable character that invites everyday use.

Over the years, the collection has evolved into one of our most adaptable offerings. What began as a simple dining table design has expanded to include dining tables, conference tables, restaurant tables, benches, coffee tables, desks, console tables, and expandable table variations. We also offer functional workspace adaptations featuring integrated drawers, keyboard trays, and custom storage solutions, allowing the design to transition seamlessly between residential and professional settings.

Every Sakamoto piece is built to order and can be tailored extensively to suit the individual needs of each client. Available customizations include overall dimensions and proportions, tabletop shapes, edge profiles, wood species, steel detailing, finish selections, and seating configurations. Clients may choose from a wide variety of hardwoods and finish treatments ranging from natural matte oils to richly stained tones, alongside numerous powder-coated or patinated steel options. Whether the goal is to create a compact café table, a large-scale conference centerpiece, or a fully bespoke dining arrangement, each piece is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the customer’s exact vision and functional requirements.

While the Sakamoto collection was originally conceived as one of our more accessible and entry-level handmade designs, its enduring simplicity and adaptability have made it one of our most versatile and enduring collections to date.

‘SAKAMOTO’ DINING TABLE

In choosing a name for this table, we opted to call the design ‘Sakamoto’ as a tribute to our client’s whom we designed and built the original prototype table for. ‘Sakamoto’ is a common Japanese surname and has a meaning that loosely translates to '(one who lives) at the bottom of the slope'. In this case this design was appropriately named, with the original table residing at the base of Squaw Valley ski resort nestled in the mountains of Olympic Valley in a mountain modern home.

MATERIAL OPTIONS

White oak, ash, maple, European beech (pictured), cherry, reclaimed redwood, and different slab woods are among the many materials we’ve worked with.

SALVAGED CLARO WALNUT SLAB ‘SAKAMOTO’ DINING TABLE

An eye-catching upgrade that is sure to continue to mesmerize you at every glance! We have a variety of salvaged walnut slabs that provide rich character with marbling grain patterns and a vibrant array of colors. Each slab is sustainably harvested and milled by a professional tree salvager, kiln dried to proper moisture content, and leveled over a series of several weeks to ensure a lasting tabletop that will be with your family for generations.

In our earlier years, we offered a different orientation of the trapezoid leg, with the steel tapering from a smaller width at the top to a wider width at the bottom. It provides a different look, with a more prominent presence. Shown below in two live edge walnut slab table and bench variations, one which was integrated into a loft kitchen island.

‘SAKAMOTO’ DESK

This desk version of our ‘Sakamoto’ design is scaled down and built with a smaller footprint with multiple depth options, and the legs are mounted further toward the ends for maximizing the available leg room between the table legs. The design is customizable in a variety of ways including the placement of the table leg to accommodate personal seating needs and chair sizes, the option of adding a shallow drawer, adding a drawer tower, or adding a keyboard tray.

FULL ROUNDOVER ‘SAKAMOTO’ TABLE

A full roundover (bullnose) edge profile was added to the long edges of the table for comfort as well as to add a softening feature to the design.

‘SAKAMOTO’ DINING SET W/ BENCHES

As a step further with our ‘Sakamoto’ collection, we added a bench to complete the look. A simple bench without a seat back allows an unrestricted view of the table., and we also added a bench with seat back and beveled edges.
