Our Story
Mez Works Furniture was founded in 2011 by Terren Gomez-West in a small garage in South Lake Tahoe, California. With a background in action sports and landscape photography, Terren brought a strong eye for design, composition, and craftsmanship to furniture making. His passion for woodworking was influenced by his uncle Richard, the original "Mez," along with his father and stepfather, who introduced him to carpentry from an early age.
What began as a one-person operation has grown into a full-scale custom furniture workshop. Over the years, Mez Works has designed, built, and delivered more than 1,000 handcrafted pieces for homes and businesses across the United States.
Allie joined the journey early on, helping grow the company through her experience in sales, marketing, design, and operations. Today, she leads much of the design and project development process while also playing an active role in production. Together, Terren and Allie continue to build Mez Works around a shared commitment to craftsmanship, creativity, and quality.

The mountains, forests, and rugged beauty of Lake Tahoe continue to inspire what we do every day. From our workshop in South Lake Tahoe, we design and build furniture that reflects both the character of the materials we use and the environments they inhabit.
Mez Works has been shaped not only by its founders, but also by the talented craftspeople, collaborators, suppliers, clients, friends, and family members who have supported us along the way. Their contributions have helped transform a small garage operation into a thriving workshop, and for that we are deeply grateful.

Our Approach
Our work is rooted in the belief that furniture should be built with purpose, made to last, and designed specifically for the people who will live with it. Every piece is designed and built in-house, allowing us to maintain complete control over quality, materials, and execution from concept to completion.
While our early work was heavily influenced by the mountain aesthetic of Lake Tahoe, our style has evolved to encompass everything from rustic and organic designs to clean-lined contemporary furniture. By combining wood, steel, and other carefully selected materials, we create pieces that balance timeless craftsmanship with modern design.
We work closely with every client throughout the process, tailoring each project to its space, function, and personality. No two pieces are exactly alike, and that's exactly how we like it.
