1. NATURAL - NO STAIN | Different species of wood have beautiful and unique characteristics exclusive to them. Leaving the wood natural highlights and preserves the original character.
COST | $0 (included in pricing)

2. DARK BROWN DYE | Adding a dark brown dye to walnut will bring the color to a deeper, richer tone. Applying the dye to oak or ash will darken the wood to medium brown tones.
UPGRADE COST | +$75

3. GRAY DYE | We can apply either a heavy or light application of gray dye to any of the materials we use, softening the coloring of the wood.
UPGRADE COST | +$75

4. EBONIZING | Walnut or oak can be "ebonized", bringing the wood to an overall black tone with subtle hints of brown undertone, leaving texture and color variation because of the high and low spots in the grain.
UPGRADE COST | +$75

5. WHITEWASHING | This treatment involves applying several coats of a bleach solution to the wood prior to applying the finish. The outcome lightens the color of the wood to a softer shade, removing some of the yellowish tones for subtler coloring. Bleaching can be done on oak and ash.

ALL FINISH OPTIONS ARE LOW-VOC FOR PEACE-OF-MIND, YET DURABLE FOR EVERYDAY USE.

We have three different wood finish options to choose from, each having different durability properties and maintenance requirements:

1. HARDWAX-OIL | Osmo Polyx Oil is derived from natural plant oils and waxes, providing a hard-wearing and protective surface that is resistant to water, soda, wine, etc. The finish maintains the natural look and feel of the wood, all while offering protection and durability. In order to maintain the condition of the wood, we recommend using coasters under serveware containing hot or cold liquids as well as cleaning up spills so as to not leave any moisture to set in over long periods that can cause spots or rings to occur. One major advantage to the hardwax oil is that it’s incredibly easy to repair/maintain, and in the event that minor signs of use occur the finish can be spot repaired with no overlap marks. With Osmo's maintenance liquid wax cleaner it's simple and quick to bring the finish "back to life" (https://worldclasssupply.com/store/OSMO-Liquid-Wax-Cleaner.html?xid=nAvveExJm5amkDObEnAfw5nIUWZBHupu). We are ever-committed to reducing the amount of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) we emit during our production process for environmentally conscious reasons, and are also trying to reduce the amount of toxins that our crew is exposed to for health safety precautions. Additionally, the hardwax-oil is a rub-on application (vs. other harsher methods such as spray-on which causes the finish to become airborne).
COST | $0 (included in pricing)

2. CONVERSION VARNISH | Since 2012 we have been using a spray-on low VOC conversion varnish. This finish offers a nice satin sheen with an exceptional durable ‘film’ finish. In our earlier stages after trying out a dozen different finishes, we decided upon the conversion varnish as our primary finish due to the desired sheen of the finish in conjunction with it's superior durability. It is one of the most durable finishes available, while it's chemical makeup allows for elasticity with seasonal wood movement. However it’s important to note that the finish is difficult to repair in the event that any significant damages occur that exposes bare wood, where the wood would need to be transported to a professional to restore the entire surface. For these reasons, we also offer a more easily maintained finish, a hardwax oil (outlined above in option 1).

3. WATER-BASED CONVERSION VARNISH | This option is an ultra-low VOC, water-based wood finish that delivers a quality level similar to oil-based coatings, but without the hazards of traditional solvents. A quick-drying finish that’s true to traditional finishing methods while delivering high-performance durability. The finish has a tendency to "soften" the wood color and give a very slight grey undertone effect with a satin sheen, retaining the natural character of the wood grain.

*Please note, with ANY finish, taking certain protective precautions will reduce the risk of causing damage to the finish/wood. Here is a link to some suggestions/guidelines that will help maintain the longevity of your table's finish: http://www.mezworks.com/care/*

1. CLEAR POWDER-COAT | This will preserve the natural color of the steel, provides protection from staining and rusting, and requires no upkeep. The steel is ground and polished and will remain natural and bright.
UPGRADE COST | +$95

2. COLOR POWDER-COAT | Powder-coating would allow us to achieve just about any color, matte or glossy. If you are unfamiliar with powder-coating, it is a free-flowing dry powder that is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to form a hard finish that it tougher than conventional paint. It's used mainly for coating auto parts, bike parts and outdoor furniture which require super durable and water resistant finishes. Colors are limitless, but typically our clients prefer a simple black powder-coat. We can arrange to have the legs professionally powder-coated by a pro steel shop in our neighborhood, who charges accordingly for different dimensions.
UPGRADE COST | +$95

3. PATINA + CLEAR POWDER-COAT | *AS PICTURED IN LISTING PHOTOS* | This finish is going to give off a more industrial look, bringing the color of the legs to a deeper/darker grey. Several hand-rubbed coats are applied to the steel legs, allowing drying times between and repeating the application several times until the desired color is reached. This process combines the patina and clear coat for maintenance-free durability. Please note, the patina can have a slight/subtle bronze-colored undertone. We also offer two application options, either a regular application or heavy application for an overall darker appearance. Please indicate which ever application method is your preference.
