A lot of thought went into custom designing this table, specifically to be a completely unique and original creation tailored to capture the client's vision, mixing elements and and experimenting with a new edge profile. Starting with two salvaged ash slabs, we joined them to reach the desired width of the table and proceeded to cut it to length. The corners were notched to fit the steel "H" frame, and a thin angled profile was implemented on the long edges for a very modern, minimalist aesthetic. To top it off, several coats of black magic patina were hand-rubbed into the steel frame to give the finish some "dimension", followed by a clear-coat to seal and protect the steel.

We have two different wood finish options to choose from, each having different durability properties and maintenance requirements:

1.  HARDWAX-OIL FINISH  |  Osmo Polyx Oil is derived from natural plant oils and waxes, providing a hard-wearing and protective surface that is resistant to water, soda, wine, etc. The finish maintains the natural look and feel of the wood, all while offering protection. One major advantage to the hardwax oil is that it’s easily repairable/maintained, and can be spot repaired with no sanding necessary. We are in a transitional period in which we are trying to reduce the amount of toxins in the products we use, and not only are we committed to reducing the amount of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) we emit for environmentally conscious reasons, but we are also trying to reduce the amount of toxins that our crew and clients are exposed to for health reasons. Eventually, we plan to phase out the conversion varnish entirely and only use the hardwax-oil finish, but for now we will offer both finish options.
COST  |  $0  (included in pricing)

2.  CONVERSION VARNISH FINISH  |  Since 2012 we have been using a spray-on, low-VOC conversion varnish. This finish offers a nice satin sheen with an exceptional durable ‘film’ finish comprised of two coats. In our earlier stages after trying out a dozen different finishes, we decided upon the conversion varnish due to the desired sheen of the finish in conjunction with it's superior durability as opposed to the previous products we tested. It is one of the most durable finishes available, yet it's chemical makeup allows for elasticity with seasonal wood movement. However, the finish is very difficult to repair in the event that any damages occur, where the wood would require being transported to a professional to refinish the entire piece to restore it to new condition, even if the damage is minor. Additionally, although the finish is considered low-VOC, it is not as eco-friendly as the new hardwax-oil finish we are offering as an alternative.
UPGRADE COSTS:
XS - M  |  +$95
M/L - XL  |  +$145

*Please note, with ANY finish, taking certain protective precautions will reduce the risk of causing damage to the finish/wood. Here is a link to some suggestions/guidelines that will help maintain the longevity of your table's finish: http://www.mezworks.com/care/*

S T E E L   F I N I S H   O P T I O N S   //

1.  CLEAR-COAT FINISH  |  This will preserve the natural color of the steel, but will protect it from staining and rusting and requires no upkeep. The steel is ground and polished and will remain natural and bright.
UPGRADE COSTS:
XSMALL - SML/MED | +$195
MED - MED/LRG | +$245
LARGE - XLARGE | +$275

2.  POWDER-COAT FINISH  |  Powder-coating would allow us to achieve just about any color, matte or glossy. If you are unfamiliar with powder-coating, it is a free-flowing dry powder that is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to form a hard finish that it tougher than conventional paint. It's used mainly for coating auto parts, bike parts and outdoor furniture which require super durable and water resistant finishes. Colors are limitless, but typically our clients prefer a simple black powder-coat. We can arrange to have the legs professionally powder-coated by a pro steel shop in our neighborhood, who charges accordingly for different dimensions.
UPGRADE COSTS:
XSMALL - SML/MED | +$195
MED - MED/LRG | +$245
LARGE - XLARGE | +$275

3.  BLACK MAGIC PATINA FINISH + CLEAR COAT  |  *AS PICTURED IN LISTING PHOTOS*  |  This finish is going to give off a more industrial look, bringing the color of the legs to a deeper/darker grey. Several hand-rubbed coats are applied to the steel legs, allowing drying times between and repeating the application several times until the desired color is reached. This process combines the patina and clear coat for maintenance-free durability.
UPGRADE COSTS:
XSMALL - SML/MED | +$245
MED - MED/LRG | +$295
LARGE - XLARGE | +$325

For use as a dining or kitchen table, bar or conference table: If you are unsure of the exact dimensions your needs require, consider the following basic guidelines:
- Provide each guest 24-30 inches of space at the dining table (chairs range from apprx 16-20" and require at least 6" of space on each side to allow guests to seat comfortably)
- Add an extra 12 inches at each end for those seated at the head and foot of the table
- Allow for at least 36 inches between the dining table and any walls or other furniture
